Fall 1988 – Began studying Isshinryu Karate at Wallops Island, Virginia under Sensei Dennis Lockwood (Roko Dan) and black belts instructors, Mr. Kevin Harman, Mr. David Hancock, and Mr. George Richey

Named Wallops Island Dojo Rookie of the Year

Moved to main dojo in Salisbury, MD – Continued to study with Sensei Lockwood and black belt instructors, Mr. Wayne Ellis, Mr. Bobby Cannon, Mr. Rick Passen, Ms. Shelia Griffin, and Ms. Doris Hancock

Attended two workshops conducted by Master Angi Uezu in Dover, Delaware

Learned Bow Kata and Sai Kata from Mr. Wayne Ellis

1997 Received Isshinryu Karate-Ka Award for Outstanding Student in the Salisbury Dojo

Completed in kumite, kata, and weapons in tournaments in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States and the Isshinryu Hall of Fame Tournament

Studied Tang Soo Do with Master Green in Smyrna, TN

Joined the Lebanon Dojo and studied with Mr. Tony Williams and Ms. Donna Bates and served as black belt instructor

Joined the Lassassas Dojo and studied with Master Jim McDonald and served as black belt instructor

Promoted to 2nd degree black belt by Dennis Lockwood

Lassassas Dojo moved to Murfreesboro where I studied with Master Jim McDonald and Mr. Thomas Smalling and served as a black belt instructor

Helped conduct a self-defense workshop for the ladies at the Bellwood Baptist Church

Began the 1st Isshinryu Karate classes at Nashville State Community College where she now teaches Karate I – Karate VIII.  In the last 10 years I have taught about 500 students at NSCC. Several of the students have taken all eight karate courses, so they can continue to study karate.

Conducted a women’s self-defense workshop for NSCC staff and faculty.

Conducted Karate Demonstrations at the NSCC Fall and Spring Festivals which are annual events at Nashville State Community College

The Murfreesboro Dojo joined the Smyrna Dojo where she has taught for the last 12 years.

Judged at the Isshinryu Hall of Fame Tournament, the IIKA Nationals and  many other local tournaments

2001 Promoted to third degree black belt

Took  a self-defense class from the Lavergne Police Department

Attended workshops at the Isshinryu Hall of Fame Tournament  and other locations

Since becoming a black belt, she has read and studied many books on Isshinryu Karate, viewed and studied many hours of videos and DVD’s on Isshinryu Karate, and read many articles on teaching katas, kumite, and weapons.

2004 Promoted to fourth degree black belt

Has promoted 4 students to black belts from the NSCC Dojo

One of those black belts is now an instructor at Nashville State Community College.

Nominated for Hall of Fame Female Karate Instructor of the Year

2011 Won IIKA  Female Karate Instructor of the Year

2012 Promoted to fifth degree black belt

Her students from the NSCC Dojo have won over 100 tournament trophies

Attended all the Kobudo Certification Reviews

Presently, she continues to teach at the Smyrna Dojo and studies under Master Phil McElroy and teaches Isshinryu Karate courses at Nashville State Community College
